When the Seven Seas Explorer first hit the water, she was said to be one of the most luxurious ships ever built. Featuring Italian marble, Austrian crystal, and even a Picasso on the walls! Did I mention the gold leaf? Today, she maintains her status and is joined by a sister ship in setting the standard for luxury at sea.

It's an all-suite ship from a luxury cruise line which tends to offer more inclusions with your cruise fare. If you're like me, you'll enjoy the white glove service delivered in a relaxed manner on the Explorer, it's not a stiff or overly formal atmosphere. Look out for special interests, such as master class Bridge tournaments on many longer itineraries. Regent generally offers a level of cruising geared toward the mature guest, however families can also enjoy the inclusive service during summer sailings of Alaska, often with special fares for the kids.

Planning your cruise

My favorite port on my August 2019 cruise with the Explorer was Monte Carlo. Imagine waking up and pulling open the blinds on your balcony suite to have a view filled with all the lovely yachts and the magnificent casino perched on top of the hill. I felt like I was in a James Bond movie, a totally awe inspiring panorama. Truly the spot of Champagne wishes and caviar dreams.

Dress code

Regent moved to a slightly more relaxed state of dress not so long ago. However, it is still a rather elegant affair on the Explorer, with separate daytime and evening dress codes. Up to 6pm you might simply enjoy resort style wear, such as shorts, jeans, or even sneakers. But you'll want to dress more formally as the evening draws on, with two suggested options for various themed nights as dictated by the length of your itinerary.

Gratuities

As an inclusive cruise line, gratuities are included in your cruise fare on board the Seven Seas Explorer. You are able to share an additional gratuity for specific cabin stewards whom you thought went over and beyond for you. There is also a fund on board where a guest can contribute for all of the staff, Regent then hosts a special occasion for them.
