Did you know, every Sunday morning at 10:00 AM local time in Syntagma Square, the Presidential Guard (Evzones) unit of the Greek military performs a traditional changing of the guard?
The changing of the guard occurs every hour, on the hour during the week, however the Sunday morning session is the spectacle to observe. The guardsmen sport traditional garments and employ manoeuvres apparently meant to keep the blood calm following the hour of stillness prior to their change.
An update having visited myself recently, the big ceremony occurs Sunday mornings but there are smaller ceremonial marches and symbolic acts performed throughout the day, every day.
Every hour on the hour and on the half hour, a march and a small change occur!
