The first doses of Pfizer's super-chilled vaccine have been administered across the United Kingdom today, with the world's first use outside of trials commencing around 7:30am this morning in England.
The earliest recipient? Margaret "Maggie" Keenan, a Great British Grandmother originally from Northern Ireland and now residing in Coventry, a city near to Birmingham in England's West Midlands.
A number of outlets have reported her as claiming the shot to be a great "early birthday gift" as she's set to turn 91 next week!
Two more updates to help end 2020 on a high.
Ms Keenan received her 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine earlier this week, on the 29th of December. As was required, there is a 21-day waiting period between the two doses to complete the course for that particular vaccination.
The Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine was approved for use in Great Britain yesterday, all the more significant in that the vaccine doesn't require exceptionally low freezer temperatures to store and may prove more easily distributed during the coming weeks.
