I actually didn't know this little fact until rather recently.
Did you know Iceland's famous thermal spa feature is a sort of man-made accident?
Apparently, back in 1976 the site was selected as a great spot to install a geothermal power station and work was set about to turn naturally occurring, mineral-rich and heated water into electricity. Kind of cool to think there was such development in clean energy then!
The disturbance has resulted in a flow of sediment rich water (the milky look) and which turns over about once every two days.
