Historically the Day of the Dead was celebrated early in the summer months, but as with many cultural celebrations, the border get a bit fuzzy with the passage of time and the influence of outsiders.
Today, Dia de Muertos falls in the... fall, more closely aligned with All Saints Day, although it would be easy to see the appeal of pairing the celebration with Halloween as it typically comes to pass during the same weekend.
If you're like me and you just plain love James Bond film franchise, you'd be further interested to note that the spectacular cinematography capturing Mexico City's Zocalo (Plaza del Zócalo) left a huge impression on the region.
Apparently there was no parade prior to the success of Spectre, but the huge crowd of real extras in painstakingly detailed costume and make-up inspired local people to gather and hold a real parade each year since the 2015 shoot!
