I try my hardest to seek out cool creatures wherever I go, during my first visit to Mexico I was able to meet a couple of these cool critters - I believe they're ctenosaura pectinata, the spiny-tailed iguana.
It was during an afternoon on Isla Mujeres, strolling
away from the beach and resorts areas. I came across the larger one here and a smaller one under some scrub and who didn't seem nearly as impressed to see me!
Although I'm a little unsure if Yucatan is their native range or if there have been a few brought to the island as visitors like to see them as much as I did!
