It can seem as though southern island destinations such as Saint Lucia escape the worst of extremes.
Not only do many of the region's hurricanes skip on by, when we were there in the first week of April in 2018, a particularly bad year elsewhere in the Caribbean for seaweed. It seemed as though the Sargassum forgot it was blooming here though!
You can guess what we were doing from the above photo, but the beaches we saw at the two Sandals properties visited during our stay were completely free from seaweed.
I can't say whether the staff was performing any cleaning or collecting the seaweed, but it was never observed.
It certainly wasn't being deposited on the shore either, we lay in our loungers or enjoyed dining on the edge of the beach throughout a number of days and didn't see any floating in on the waves.
I don't recall seeing any while snorkeling or boating either.
