September of 2017 and in fact only a week or so before Hurricane Irma dropped in on Florida's Atlantic Coast, here I am on the beach at Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park - formally known as John U Lloyd Beach State Park.
It's a state park, so you might not expect as much of the commercial sand grooming and they do allow nature to choose more of its own path in terms of wildlife and the growth of scrub near the beach.
As you can see, there's a little more seaweed than you'd see on nearby beaches of Fort Lauderdale or anywhere further north or south, including Miami or Palm Beach.
Regardless, it's a nice beach experience as the crowds are low and you can often catch glimpse of the cruise ships sailing out in the afternoon during the weekend. The water is still warm and clear!
