The world's largest butterfly park is found on the north side of Fort Lauderdale, in Coconut Creek. The site is home to some 20,000 live butterflies and a handful of other feathered friends for you to meet during your visit.
Families with kids will probably get the most out of a visit here, but couples looking for a unique activity to enjoy will also appreciate the colorful atmosphere and airy feel of the gardens. If you're into bugs, it's a given.
Planning your trip
Butterfly World is a little further north than most cruise visitors to Miami might appreciate, unless you're flying into or out of Fort Lauderdale's international airport.
When you should go
This is a year-round attraction, but you should plan your day around the weather. There are a combination of indoor and outdoor elements to this attraction which make it less practical to enjoy on days with poor weather. Although such weather is uncommon through the high season in South Florida.
What else you might need
The park is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays. Last entry is at 4pm and the site is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. As mentioned above, inclement weather can force a schedule change at the attraction. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the time of arrival. Expect about $33 for adults & seniors, $23 for children 3-11.
