The capital city of the island of Naxos, it's also home to the main port and nearby airport for guests of this beach lover's paradise. The city itself might also be referred to as "Chora", more or less the Greek word for "town" and which you might hear throughout your stay on Naxos and elsewhere in the Greek Islands.
You'll likely need to stop in Naxos Town on your way in or out of the island, but you might also enjoy a visit to try some of the local restaurants or tavernas, or to check out some of the ruins.
Planning your trip
From the city's northern edge, just past the cruise and ferry terminal, you'll find the ruins of the Apollo Temple.
When you should go
Naxos has a distinct summer tourist season for you beach lovers, warm seas during the months of June through September also bring higher numbers of visitors to Naxos Town.
