The world's busiest passenger cruise port is a pretty spectacular sight in its own right. Not only can you spot the latest cruise ships lined up neatly along the terminals area, you can also check out the unique architecture that accompanies the terminal upgrades each cruise line has developed over the last few years.

Although PortMiami is one of our favorite destinations, it's only because you'd visit when embarking on a cruise. If you're not due to sail, you should avoid the port and associated island area as a matter of easing congestion for those who need to get to their own roll call!

Planning your trip

PortMiami serves a huge variety of ocean faring cruise ships, headed mainly to the Caribbean or stopping in Miami as part of a larger itinerary. Occasional repositioning options exist, but you may also enjoy a private yacht charter to explore on your own terms or with a bit more of an intimate atmosphere to share with your travel companions.

There is so much to experience in the immediate proximity to PortMiami, it seems a waste of your vacation time to simply head to the airport following disembarkation. We've partnered with Luxury Tours Miami to offer custom sightseeing with a private vehicle & chauffeur. From as little as 3-hours in length and for any number of guests, you could better use your time with some shopping, a final "good-bye" trip to the beach, photo ops in Wynwood Walls... you get the idea!

When you should go

Peak cruise season starts just about Christmas and rolls through to March. The summer months are popular, too. September is the low season.

Expect the kinds of beautiful weather Miami is known for, but be aware that can include some serious heat and humidity. It can also mean some showers, especially during the late spring and summer months. Hurricane season extends April through November, although the likelihood of experiencing landfall during your visit is extremely low. If you have any concerns, however, do reach out to our team or get active in our Travel Forum's community!

What else you might need

You'll have the most stress-free experience by arranging a transfer at about the same time as you book your flights. Taxi ranks can be intense.
