The smaller town neighboring Castries and another French colony, Sousfrière hosts a public beach with great views onto the Pitons.
You'll be staying in or around Sousfrière if you're staying at the upscale resorts offering the best views of the Pitons, such as Jade Mountain or Anse Chastanet.
Planning your trip
If you're exploring Saint Lucia during a call to port, you might consider a journey by boat to Sousfrière. Travel times are comparable while the trip will be far more comfortable and picturesque by sea.
When you should go
Many luxury guests of Saint Lucia opt for a mountainside resort. That may mean you stop in Sousfriere for a change of scenery during your week or two on the island, there are a few places to stop for a refreshment. If you're a cruise passenger, you may only stop in town before or after hiking the Pitons.
